Designed at White Rock in the Humanist Alliance, the Espion was the HAPF’s solution to replace the highly regulated and monitored Chameleon and Snake Eye Black Mamba Gears.

Development of the Espion began in TN1930 and incorporated technology from the Humanist produced Ghost stealth fighter into the design. While new technology was introduced during the process, the majority of the Espion’s design came from a Chameleon stealth Gear covertly acquired from a MILICIA unit. Humanist used the captured Chameleon to reverse engineer many of its features.

The Espion’s armor was designed with a sensor absorbent material similar to the Chameleon’s. In order to reduce mechanical noise and heat, the larger void space in the internal compartments were filled with tanks of coolant gel. Eventually these tanks were removed in the final design after technicians complained that the tanks had a habit of bursting under normal operations, leaving a mess during maintenance and repair.

By TN1935, White Rock had four working prototypes, two of which were transferred to Port Arthur. The remaining two prototypes werepressed into service during the War of the Alliance and were destroyed late in the war. The two prototypes in Port Arthur underwent further modifications and were incorporated into the Gallic Production Series. Limited production of the Gallic Series Espion began at Javelin System’s factories on 12 Summer TN1939, with Humanist forces receiving the first run of the Espion.

Since TN1939, Javelin Systems has been manufacturing the Espion for use by the HAPF, PAK, and NSDF forces, but production is limited to roughly twenty Espions per cycle due to the high cost and specialized nature of the Gear. In TN1946, the Humanist Alliance opened up a second factory producing the Espion exclusively for HAPF in Raleigh.

Usage

The Espion is primarily seen in HAPF forces, but the 4th NSDF Regiment uses the stealth Gear frequently in their covert operations.

The regiment’s Section 3 in the Night Widow Company makes the most effective use of the Espion in their rapid deployment counterespionage role. During the TN1940s, the section battled SRID, Mekong Ghost Squads, and Paxton Special Forces in cat and mouse operations throughout the Lance Point and Prince Gable corridor. The Night Widows utilize the Gear’s airborne and stealth qualities to strike at enemies swiftly and efficiently.
